One Mom’s Story

Users of Colic Calm tell their real-life experiences in dealing with colic and infant reflux.

One Mom’s Story: Jodie and Baby Reagann

First time mom, Jodie, received her new bundle of joy this past August 2011. Jodie named her Reagann and she was excited to take on her new role of mother. Unfortunately, things became difficult right away. Reagann was colicky and unhappy, making life extremely difficult for Jodie. As she says, “I was always baffled by her because she was never content when she was awake. She was either asleep or crying.” Jodie believed that not only was Reagann extremely colicky, but she felt that Reagann had undiagnosed reflux as well. As a result, Jodie says, “. . . sleep was unheard of. She would wake up literally every 30 to 45 minutes through the night, crying and screaming.”

Jodie knew that life Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Denise and Baby William

Denise discovered Colic Calm when her son William was eleven months old and out of the blue, started throwing up. Denise’s first thought was that William had the flu, but he showed no other symptoms—no fever or aches. But something was going on–poor William continually threw up and just wanted his mama to hold him.

As a result, things were a bit difficult around the house. William would exhaust himself by throwing up, which meant everyone was sleeping, but this was only in short chunks. Denise knew something was off, so she took him to the emergency room. Having to wait all night to be seen, Denise was hoping they’d get an answer to what was going on with William. Instead, they got Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Leeandra and Baby Mila

Leeandra was no newbie when it came to infants. A mom to three, she knew her way around a newborn’s crying and was not surprised that she wasn’t getting any sleep. But when her youngest, Mila, started throwing up her bottle at two months of age, she knew things were off.  Leeandra says, “About a week before turning two months old she [Mila] started vomiting her formula and refusing to drink her bottles. This was very unsettling to me because before this she was eating just fine. It got to the point to where I could only get her to drink maybe a couple of drops of each bottle. She would suck on it for a while and then start screaming and crying like she was in pain. She would only drink a 4oz bottle when she was sleeping—nap time or bed time—which would be maybe two 4oz bottles of formula in a 24 hour period.” Scary stuff. Leeandra took Mila in to the pediatrician, who Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Christina and Baby Braydon

When Christina was 23 weeks pregnant with her third child, Braydon, she went in for a routine ultrasound and learned that he had a pocket of water on his kidney. Wanting to closely monitor it, her doctor decided that Christina should have a sonogram every four weeks. Each time she went in, the “cyst” doubled in size. When Braydon was born, the doctors performed a sonogram on his kidney and it was found that the “cyst” had completely overtaken his left kidney and the kidney could no longer function. Since then, Christina has learned that Braydon has polycystic kidney disease, and that his kidney does not just have one cyst, but multiple cysts, and it will have to be removed sometime before his first birthday. As a result, Christina watches everything that Braydon ingests like a hawk, and when he developed colic, she made sure to research everything on the market in order to find a remedy that was both safe for his functioning kidney and effective for the colic. Christina says, “Braydon was a very gassy and cranky baby.  He would cry unless you were holding him and would have constant pressure on his belly . . .”

Life is no fun with a baby who is always crying, so Christina turned to the internet to see what was out there that could calm Braydon. As a result of him having polycystic kidney disease, she says, “. . . I was not able to give him any other gas medications.  All the other medications had preservatives, and other things that I don’t even like to give to my baby that doesn’t have any issues. . . I was a lot more cautious with Braydon, because I don’t want to harm his good kidney in any way.”

Then she found Colic Calm. Christina says, “My daughter Elyssa had also had some kidney issues, but I did not know about this product (I wish I had!). But, I have learned from her what to stay away from.” And there’s nothing that needs staying away from in Colic Calm. Christina states, “I looked and looked online for things that I could do to help him and finally came across Colic Calm and went out and bought it the next day!  I am just sad I didn’t know about the product sooner!!! I do not know what I would have done if I did not find Colic Calm.  It has been a life saver.”

Starting when Braydon was two weeks old, Christina would administer Colic Calm after feeding and before bed, and he would be soothed instantly. At interview time, Braydon was three months old and still receiving doses of Colic Calm. As Christina says, “I hate medicating my children so I do everything possible to keep them healthy with the most natural things possible.” We’re so glad Colic Calm is helping you with that goal, Christina.

One Mom’s Story: Lacey Jo and Baby Ezekiel

Lacey Jo likes doing things the natural way—she gave birth to her second child, Ezekiel, naturally and used a mid-wife for her pregnancy appointments, as well as for her delivery. So, when Ezekiel started showing signs of an upset tummy, Lacey Jo immediately begin to search for natural remedies. She states, “I didn’t want to use medications that doctors give, I wanted a natural approach.”

When Ezekiel was about two months old, it looked like he had both colic and reflux. When she discovered that Ezekiel may have the latter, Lacey Jo didn’t turn to meds, as she says, “He had not taken any thing else for this problem, I went straight for natural healing . . . I used a midwife for his birth and through out my pregnancy so I knew where I wanted to find help!!” She did some searching on the web and found Colic Calm. Lacey Jo asked her midwife about it and, “she gave me the go ahead to try it!”

Lacey Jo describes that period in their lives, “Ezekiel would just kick his legs and cry real tears . . . I would at first think he was still hungry, so of course I added to the madness by over feeding him. I tried warm towels or baths to calm him down, I even used a digestive vitamin that my midwife gave me, which helped a little bit but soon it was just a lost cause. Lucky for me, we were not up all night, but all day long it was nothing but trying to rock him or calm him. Needless to say, I didn’t get any house work done at all!!! Much like other mothers in my situation I had had enough and I went on the search . . . once I read that Colic Calm was safe to use—this combined with the literature I read and the info my midwife shared with me, I knew this was a great product to use and I ordered it right away!!!”

So, Lacey Jo used Colic Calm for helping Ezekiel’s colicky period, and his reflux, She says, “. . . a lot of the time you can’t tell exactly what your lil’ one is going through . . . I knew his tummy was upset and things were hurting him and that why I decided on the Colic Calm. It’s safe no matter which one he needed and helped both problems!!!”

When asked when she would administer Colic Calm to Ezekiel, Lacey Jo says, “I would give it to him whenever I felt he had tummy issues, sometimes it was before his feedings and sometime after he was finished eating. Other times were just fussy moments that I felt needed a little healing from Colic Calm. That’s what I truly love about this stuff, you didn’t have to worry you were giving him something that he didn’t need or that it was going to hurt him if you gave him too many doses in one day (of course with anything I still followed the dose directions or suggestions). Because of the natural ingredients and natural healing abilities I knew it was safe and worth giving to him!!! I didn’t have to give it to him very often–after just the first week he seemed to be feeling much better!!!”

At interview time, Ezekiel was 7 months old, and Lacey Jo was still using Colic Calm. “[Ezekiel] is teething and I just gave him a dose to soothe his tummy (didn’t really know if that would help or if he really needed tummy help) but it calmed him down within moments and he has been passed out ever since!!!! Another one for the books at Colic Calm!!!”

One Mom’s Story: Desiree and Baby Caspian

First time mom, Desiree, was hit with colic right from the start–her son Caspian was colicky from birth. Desiree says, “I’d feel horrible because I’d try everything under the sun that was supposed to help colic–warm baths, white noise, swaying, rocking, expensive, fancy bottles, etc, but those things only made him feel better for a bit.” While she was still trying to find a remedy for Caspian’s colic, things got worse. When Caspian was one month old, his pediatrician diagnosed him with reflux and prescribed Zantac, which, as Desiree says, was “ineffective and [I] found that it also constipated him.”  So, as Desiree had new mom hormones coursing through her, she had a screaming baby who was refluxy and constipated. Not fun.

Desiree knew things had to change–no one was happy, especially little Caspian. Her next step? Desiree Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Amy and Baby Aryus

When first time mom Amy, welcomed her son, Aryus Stone, into the world, she couldn’t have felt more blessed. But when Aryus turned three weeks old, the crying didn’t stop. Aryus, who was born four weeks early and had an immature digestive system, was suffering from gas pains and reflux, and it was BAD. As Amy says, “Aryus would grunt and cry out in pain all day long. He was gripped with pain so badly that I could not even give him a tummy massage. His belly button even became herniated due to all the pushing he did.”

Amy goes on to describe their home life like this, “Shortly after he dealt with gas he developed reflux and was constantly gagging and spitting up. He began to suffer Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Randi and Baby Marilyn

Randi has a story that all of us with refluxy or colicky babies can sympathize with, while those who haven’t had the “joy” of experiencing either symptom can only keep hoping they never have to! Randi tell us her experience, in her own words, on how Colic Calm came to her rescue, and made her family a happy one, once again.

From Randi:

Marilyn is my second child, she is 6 months old. I had first heard about Colic Calm when I walked into a CVS about a month ago (she was 5 months) trying to find something to help my baby out with her gas and reflux. Marilyn was on Prevacid and I had ultra-sounds done of her stomach to make sure she didn’t have a problem with the bottom of her esophagus (I thought it may Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Sarah and Baby Megan

Megan today--all smiles and coos.

When Sarah welcomed Megan into the world, she was her sixth child. Surrounded by a loving family, and a wonderful husband, Sarah was ready to get to know her newborn. Megan however, had different plans, and screamed for most the day and night. Sarah, who had dealt with baby colic before, was at her wit’s end, and tried every colic remedy to help her. However, nothing would take away her newborn’s painful gas. Sarah’s interview was so passionate, that instead of writing her story for her, I wanted Sarah to share it with you herself. Here it is. . .

Is this your first child? What is his/her name?
This is my sixth child and the only one EVER to have colic this bad. Her name is Megan.

How did you hear about Colic Calm?
This is a weird story. My sister told me that her friends swear by “kiddie-kol” but I thought she said Colic Calm. I searched the internet for different brands, trying to decide between Baby’s Bliss and Colic Calm. When I came across the Colic Calm site, I saw the how it works link and LOVED IT! It was the pull I needed. I went that very next morning to Garden Gate Specialties health-food store, purchased it, went home and immediately gave her a full dose (I was desperate to find results). She stopped screaming in severe pain instantly . . . and . . . smiled. Yes, she smiled for the first time EVER! I WAS HOOKED! Continue reading

One Mom’s Story: Kimberly and Baby CJ

If you Google infant reflux (or GERD), you come across loads of discussion boards where mom’s are at their wit’s end trying to help their refluxy baby. Constantly spitting up, long periods of crying, having to sleep upright–reflux is no fun. Infant reflux medications can be prescribed, but often, due to the lack of testing (Zantac, for example, has only been tested on babies one month and older while Prevacid has been tested on those one year and older), mother’s are unsure if they should administer them to their children. This is where Kimberly, mother of CJ, found herself.

CJ not only had reflux, but he was colicky as well which meant Kimberly was being hit with a double whammy. She remembers it like this, “CJ was very fussy at night. Very gassy. He would not sleep, I had him in a car seat in his crib so he could Continue reading
