One Mom’s Story: Kelly and Baby Brittany
A winter baby, Brittany came into the world already having three siblings. Since she was Kelly’s fourth child, Kelly felt like she knew what she was doing–until Brittany’s crying episodes would start. About an hour after nursing, Brittany would begin to cry. . . and wouldn’t stop. Brittany seemed to be in obvious pain, and Kelly had feelings of hopelessness because she couldn’t figure out what to do to help her.
After countless sleepless nights and frustrating days, Kelly started to watch her own diet. Since Brittany was nursing, Kelly’s thoughts were that maybe she (Brittany) was having a reaction to something that Kelly was eating. It was a guessing game, as Kelly says, “I was nursing and felt it was something I was eating, but in order to find out if that was the case I would have to omit certain foods from my diet and “experiment” to find out if that was even the case. There was no guarantee and it wasn’t an instant fix either.” To make matters even more complicated, Brittany was diagnosed with infant reflux, and put on Zantac.
At this point, Brittany was six weeks old, and nothing seemed to be helping. Kelly started “. . . searching the internet for advice on how to calm my baby” and came across an article on Colic Calm. “It said it was safe and all natural so I felt comfortable giving it a try. I called around to find a store that carried it. Lucky the CVS down the street had a box in stock. My husband drove there in the middle of a snow storm! The price was higher then we would have liked but if it was going to work it was worth it. Sure enough it did–within minutes of giving it to her she was sleeping soundly.”
When this interview had taken place, Brittany was four months old, and as Kelly put it, “. . .we are still best friends with Colic Calm. When she starts getting fussy and gassy we give it to her. If it’s been a bad day we go with a 1/2tsp but if its the first dose of the day we start with 1/4tsp. Our local pharmacy only kept one bottle in stock. They now keep multiple bottles.” And the Zantac? Brittany used it for the first two months of her life, but Colic Calm worked so well, she no longer needed to take it.
Kelly ends her interview with, “I wish more people knew about this “miracle” remedy.” Thanks for helping us spread the word, Kelly.
